Ich habe mich schon früher gerne mit Kindern beschäftigt. Irgendwann habe ich im Fernsehen was über Au Pairs gesehen und seit dem wollte ich das auch machen. Da ich mein Englisch verbessern will und bald meine Ausbildung zur Erzieherin abgeschlossen habe, ist ein Au Pair Jahr die Beste Möglichkeit alles miteinander zu kombinieren.
Ich habe nie darüber nachgedacht in welches Land ich gehen will. Es war für mich von Anfang an klar, das ich nach Amerika gehe. Ich war als Kind schon mal dort und möchte es jetzt noch besser kennenlernen.
Als ich mich über die Agenturen informiert habe, war AIFS gleich mein Favorit. Sie hat mich gleich überzeugt und sie wertschätzt es (meiner Meinung nach und im Vergleich zu den anderen Agenturen) am Meisten, wenn man schon eine Ausbildung mit Kindern gemacht hat.
Zu der Zeit, zu der ich im Matching war, hatte ich ca. 2700 Betreuungsstunden, davon über 600 mit Kindern unter drei. Mittlerweile dürften es schon fast 3500 sein. Die meisten Stunden habe ich durch meine Ausbildung bekommen. Aber auch durch Praktika, Vereine, meine Cousinen, und Babysitten.
Ich wurde am 14.12.18 freigeschalten und am 14.01.19 habe ich mit meiner Gastfamilie gematcht. Wow mir ist bisher gar nicht aufgefallen das es genau einen Monat später war ? Kontakt mit meiner Gastfamilie hatte ich seit dem 22.12.
Die Umgebung ist eher ländlich. Hinter dem Haus ist ein Wald und in der Nähe gibt es ein paar Parks. Mit dem Auto ist man etwa in einer halben Stunde in Seattle. Mein Zimmer ist im Basement, hat aber trotzdem Fenster. Ich werde sogar ein eigenes Bad haben.
Da mein Gastvater deutscher ist, weiß ich nicht wie viele Kulturelle unterschiede es wirklich geben wird. Aber ich freue mich auf jeden Fall auf die Feiertage und ich werde definitiv mal für meine Gastfamilie kochen und backen.
